Kathleen hid in a bush next to the railroad, trying to decide whether to go north into the forest or south to the empty houses. She had escaped the Cornucopia with no injuries after grabbing a small backpack that held a water bottle (empty), a first aid kit, and a pocket knife. She figured she was one of the only ones to escape because in the distance she could still hear tributes fighting.
